Northland Judo & BJJ

Northland Judo & BJJ, operating as NLD Judo & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, trains out of Oak Park High School at 825 NE 79th Terrace in Kansas City, Missouri, serving students from Kansas City and the surrounding Northland area. Coached by Jesse Hernandez, the club focuses on traditional judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu fundamentals, prioritizing balance, positional control, timing, and sound mechanics over shortcuts or trend-driven systems. Classes are structured and instructor-led, with focused instruction, positional work, and controlled live training, and no prior experience is required. The weekly schedule features Monday evening Open Mat from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday evening Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday morning Open Mat at 8:30 AM. Reduced tuition is offered to active-duty military, veterans, and serving or retired police officers and firefighters.
